Let me take you through the basic details of the MPSC state service exam
MPSC state service(Rajyaseva) exam has three stages of selection
1. Preliminary exam-
This exam carries 2 papers with 200 marks Each. paper 1 is a paper on general studies and paper 2 is a paper on CSAT.
2. Mains Exam-
This exam carries 6 papers. two papers of languages carry 100 marks each and four papers of general Studies carry 150 marks each.
3. Interview-
It is the third and most important stage of selection. After clearing it with good marks you will get your desired post(according to your rank).
MPSC state service prelims syllabus:
(There are two papers as mentioned above, the syllabus is as follow)
Paper I (200 marks)
- Current events of state, national and international importance.
- History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement.
- Maharashtra, India and world geography – Physical, Social, Economic geography of Maharashtra, India and the World.
- Maharashtra and India – Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights Issue, etc.
- Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
- General issues on Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization.
- General Science
Paper-II (200 marks)
- Comprehension
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability
- Decision-making and problem-solving
- General mental ability
- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. – Class X level)
- Marathi and English language comprehension skills (Class X/XII level) Questions relating to this will be tested through passages from Marathi and the English language without providing cross translation thereof in the question paper.
