Mpsc civil services gazetted combined prelim examination pattern and syllabus

Mpsc civil services gazetted combined prelim exam also known as the MPSC Rajyaseva exam is the first stage to becoming an officer. You have to clear prelims in order to sit for mains.

There are two papers in prelims:

Preliminary syllabus

Paper I – (200 marks)
(1) Current events of state, national and international importance.
(2) History of India and Indian National Movement with some weightage to Maharashtra
(3) Maharashtra, India and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of Maharashtra,
India and the World.
(4) India and Maharashtra – Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj,
Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc.
(5) Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics,
Social Sector initiatives, etc.
(6) General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require
subject specialisation.
(7) General Science.

Paper II – (200 marks)
(1) Comprehension
(2) Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
(3) Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
(4) Decision-making and problem-solving.
(5) General mental ability.
(6) Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data
interpretation (Charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.- Class X level)
(7) Marathi and English Language Comprehension skills (Class X/XII level)

Note 1 : Questions relating to Marathi and English Language Comprehension skill of Class X/XII level (last
item in the Syllabus of Paper II) will be tested through passages from Marathi and English language
without providing a cross-translation thereof in the question paper.
Note 2 : The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type.
Note 3 : The candidate must appear in both the Papers of Maharashtra Civil Services Gazetted
(Prelim) Examination for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore a candidate will not be considered for
evaluation in case he / she does not appear in both the papers of Maharashtra Civil Services
Gazetted (Prelim) Examination.

महाराष्ट्र नागरी सेवा राजपत्रित संयुक्त परीक्षेमधील सन २०२३ पासून पारंपारिक / वर्णनात्मक स्वरुपात घेण्यात येणा-या खालील परीक्षांकरीता प्रश्नपत्रिकेची रचना (Question Paper Structure) साधारणतः पुढीलप्रमाणे राहील.

१) महाराष्ट्र अभियांत्रिकी सेवा मुख्य परीक्षा गट- अ व ब (स्थापत्य / यांत्रिकी / विद्युत / विद्युत व यांत्रिकी).

२) निरीक्षक, वैधमापन शास्त्र, गट-ब मुख्य परीक्षा.

३) अन्न व औषधी द्रव्ये प्रशासकीय सेवा [सहायक आयुक्त (अन्न) तथा पदनिर्देशित अधिकारी, गट-अ (राजपत्रित) व अन्न सुरक्षा अधिकारी, गट-ब (राजपत्रित)] मुख्य परीक्षा.
